Road trip idea: Grab your friends and go fall foliage hunting this month. | Photo by @ivanbriones_photos
South Texas might not be the paragon of autumnal foliage, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find some unbe-leaf-able views in and around our beautiful Alamo City.
Here are a few of our favorite fall spots to visit around the 210 that are sure to make it to the ‘gram.
Pack a picnic and head over to Gilbert Denman Estate Park near the Medical Center. You can also find a monument hand-built in Gwangju, Korea — one of San Antonio’s sister cities — by Korean craftsmen and artists who traveled to San Antonio to assemble it.
During the fall, you can expect plenty of visitors looking to take in the natural beauty. Overnight campers can stay in screened shelters, cabins, or campsites.
With four miles of river frontage, the tree-lined Guadalupe River provides an excellent backdrop for those looking to get a unique hiking adventure near the Alamo City.
Pro tip: Active-duty military, veterans, disabled persons, and seniors may qualify for Texas Parklands Passports, which entitle the bearer to free or discounted entry to all state parks.
