Now that we have the good vibes and funky grooves going, it’s time to ask, “Do you remember the 21st night of September?” We’re here to take a look back into Alamo City history, and see what was happening the week of Sept. 21 in various years.

1921 | The remnants of a hurricane moving toward the city dropped 7 inches of rainfall on San Antonio in devastating flash floods, resulting in the later construction of the Olmos Dam and the River Walk’s development for flood control and other purposes.
San Antonio College’s appearance has undergone a few changes over the years.
1925 | San Antonio College opened its doors as the University Junior College with an enrollment of 200 students. Fun fact: It’s the oldest public two-year college in Texas that’s still in operation.
Houston spicy-hot chicken chain Urban Bird just launched its first Alamo City location in Stone Oak, and it’s open for business. Two more locations — one on the Far West side and one at La Cantera — are headed this way soon. Chicken spiciness ratings range from “country” to “fire in the hole.” (CultureMap San Antonio)

A new change this summer means car buyers will no longer be issued temporary paper tags from the dealership. All buyers will either exchange existing tags or get new metal tags upon purchase. The ultimate goal is to cut down on fraud and improve road safety. (News 4 San Antonio)

Houston’s Adair Kitchen is poised to open a new San Antonio location on Broadway in October — moving into a downtown spot occupied by a beloved Jim’s restaurant for more than 50 years. Yum: the restaurant specializes in comfort foods ranging from pasta to steak to enchiladas. (MySA)

Fort Worth-headquartered Texas manufacturer VoidForm has just opened a 33,000-sqft facility in San Antonio. The new warehouse combines its previous Austin and San Antonio operations and will have an improved manufacturing capacity. According to VoidForm, the hiring of new staff is also on the horizon. The Sonterra Park Costco is about to receive a $250k facelift — but the price of hot dogs will remain the same. According to filings this week with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, renovations will begin New Year’s Day and largely affect a 2,000-sqft area of the food court. (MySA)
