It’s official. Major League Eating and Taco Cabana are teaming up to present the chain’s inaugural World Taco Eating Championship on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 12 p.m. Even better, yours truly is registered to go toe-to-toe with champion professional eaters for the gold. The event is sponsored by Taco Cabana + Dr. Pepper and will take place at the chain’s Austin Highway location in San Antonio.
A Guinness Book of World Records judge will be present to potentially crown the new record holder and $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to 1st through 6th place winners. Come watch me lose miserably or achieve taco immortality.
(In case you were wondering, the current world record-holder is Vallejo, California native Joey Chestnut, who consumed 126 tacos in eight minutes.)
