Independence Day falls on Friday this year, meaning we have your plans all laid out for you.

The H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrate at San Antonio’s free Fourth of July bash with fitness sessions, vendor booths, and carnival, plus fireworks accompanied by a drone show. The event begins at 8 a.m. at Woodlawn Lake Park, and the grand finale starts at 9 p.m.

31st Annual 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Spectacular
In Leon Valley’s Raymond Rimkus Park, you can stop by food and small business vendors all day long before the annual parade and fireworks show later in the evening.

Stars & Stripes Salute
Visit Plaza de Valero at the Alamo on Independence Day for family activities beginning as early as 9 a.m. Live entertainment with the US Air Force Band of the West begins at 7 p.m., leading to a fireworks show around 9:30 p.m.

Beer and Donut Pairing | 7-8:30 p.m. | Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling | $43 | Each donut is paired with a Ranger Creek beer, and the Chief Whiskey Ambassador will explain the creative distilling process and pairing choice.

San Antonio Pride Celebration | 11 a.m.-7 p.m. | Crockett Park | $13+ | It’s all love at this event featuring entertainment, vendors, local LGBTQ+ organizations, Texas Wrestling, and PRIDE weddings.

Community

Community planning workshops in City Districts 2, 4, 5, and 7 began yesterday for the proposed downtown Sports and Entertainment District. Bookmark the full list of input sessions for all 10 Council Districts from now through July. Find your district.

Development

Borgfeld Crossing, a retail development slated for San Antonio’s Far North Side, is scheduled to begin construction at 1611 E. Borgfeld Dr. in October. Confirmed tenants for the 10,999-sqft development expected to open in fall 2026 include local player Tia’s Taco Hut, Great Clips, and a dentist office. (San Antonio Business Journal)

James Beard-nominated chef Alex Paredes is cooking up something new — a Mexico City-inspired taqueria concept. The restaurant called Tacopolis is expected to open in the Deco District at the beginning of July, serving tacos, quesadillas, carnitas, barbacoa, and alambres. (MySA)

Matcha Cafe Maiko, a chain in the Blanco North Shopping Center offering matcha-based drinks, desserts, and shaved ice, is growing its San Antonio presence. Details surrounding the Potranco location are slim, but you can explore the menu in the meantime.

Eat

Rise and shine — it’s breakfast time. It’s no secret that San Antonio’s breakfast taco scene guacs our world, but it can be hard to narrow down all the choices.
