It’s time to say out with the old and give new life to new or gently-used items you may not need.

In the spirit of decluttering, and removing items that don’t bring you joy, we’ve rounded up a list of 10 San Antonio organizations that accept donated items that help locals in need + support community causes.

For the large hauls

The San Antonio Humane Society accepts car donations to help provide funding for the care of the thousands of homeless animals in the Alamo City.

Letting go of clothing

Make a high schooler’s night magical by offering Project Prom your gently-used formal attire. Its mission is to provide formal wear to high school teens at no cost.

Household items

Did you know that 47% of US families do not have access to an adequate supply of diapers? Donate unused diapers or feminine hygiene products to Texas Diaper Bank.

Don’t have much to get rid of this year? Try donating your time by volunteering with one of these amazing local organizations.

News Notes

Development

The proposal to build a new downtown arena for the Spurs is another step closer to reality. Officials met earlier this week to discuss Project Marvel, and agreed on a potential timeline for locals to have their say on the plans. When we know more, you’ll know more. (Fox San Antonio)

Announced

Storied San Antonio burger joint Chris Madrid’s is extending its hours. Since 1977, the Beacon Hill spot has served up tasty eats to locals six days a week. But starting April 6, the restaurant’s burgers, nachos, and chalupas will also be available on Sundays, with a party planned that day for the occasion. (KSAT)

Weather

Stay safe out there, San Antonio. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for our area through at least tomorrow morning. Up to six inches of rain could fall as the storm impacts South Texas. (My San Antonio)

Sports

The NCAA Men’s Tournament resumes today as the Sweet 16 begins across the country. Tune into the action tonight to watch those vying for a place in the Final Four in San Antonio. We already rounded up the info you need to make the most of the madness next weekend.

Opening

A third Kona Grill location is coming to San Antonio. Project documents reveal Kona is set to open up in August right by Six Flags Fiesta Texas. More specifically, the popular chain is opening in the former Bar-B-Cutie Smokehouse spot at 5603 Presidio Pkwy. (My San Antonio)

Closing

Mad Pecker Brewing Co. is closing its doors after 10 years serving the Great Northwest neighborhood. “Stop by for one final beer, bite to eat, and chill MP vibes,” wrote the brewpub in a statement. The last day of service is Monday, March 31.
