Whether you’re looking for a place to play with the kiddos or to decompress with some off-screen time, San Antonio features 30+ parks and recreational spots for you to enjoy.

So grab your shades, SPF, and trusty water bottle — here are some of the Alamo City’s best.

Nature parks


Elmendorf Lake Park, 3700 W. Commerce St.
Located near OLLU, cross the bridge over the lake and take in the natural scenery as well as walking on its trails.

Woodlawn Lake Park, 1103 Cincinnati Ave.
This park offers fishing opportunities, trails, picnic areas, swimming pool, softball field and a playscape.

Sports parks


Berkley V. and Vincent M. Dawson Park, 202 Lamar St.
The newest skate park to rip onto the scene, it offers downtown views, two skate parks, a covered pavilion, and a community garden.

Freewheel Bike Park, 5102 Pearsall Rd.
This fitness park includes a few different trails like the pump track + dirt bike trail for those looking for more of a natural adventure.

Development

Developer Phoenix Property Co. is set to break ground on new luxury apartments in La Cantera. The $57 million project includes an additional 342 units. Plus, the La Cantera Town Center master plan includes office, hotel, health and wellness facilities, entertainment, retail, and additional green spaces. (SA Business Journal)

For the seventh year in a row, San Antonio is featured on MovieMaker Magazine’s “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker.” The city rose in ranking to No. 20 (up from last year’s No. 24).

The Gunn Family Coyote Dog Park will be closed for maintenance from Monday, Feb. 3 through Friday, Feb. 14. Might we recommend the dog park at Phil Hardbergrer Park in the meantime?
