News Notes

Tech

Time is ticking for TikTok’s potential demise. The clock app may soon no longer be available in the US App store, pending a Supreme Court ruling. Don’t fret just yet — you can still scroll (albeit less mindlessly) through SATXtoday’s Instagram feed of chic local coffee shops, exciting updates, and plenty of memes.

Real Estate

How much apartment space can $1,500 get you in the Alamo City? According to RentCafe, $1,500 a month can land you 1,012 sqft. Compare that to Austin, where the same rent will get you 759 sqft on average.

Drink

Next time you’re downtown, don’t head to Starbucks if you need to use the toilet — the chain is no longer allowing people to sit or use their restrooms without first purchasing something. Try Vela Coffee instead, which is located at 505 E. Travis St. (Wall Street Journal)

All you need to know about SAT Airport

Here’s your guide for SAT — plane and simple. | Photo by SATXtoday team
If your New Year’s resolution is to travel more then we’re here to help make your time at San Antonio International Airport (SAT) as smooth as possible.

We’ve created a guide that covers everything from gates and parking, to details on the airport’s dozens of nonstop flights.

What to know

  • TSA | The SAT airport’s website recommends arriving two hours prior for flights at or before 7:30 a.m., and about 90 minutes before for flights after 7:30 a.m.
  • Food and drink | SAT really shines when it comes to its vast array of local food options. Case in point: Get some authentically-San Antonio tacos from La Gloria before washing it down with a cup of Joe from Merit Coffee.
  • Reminder | By May 7, 2025, all travelers over the age of 18 will need a REAL ID to board commercial flights in the US.
  • Flight status | While we recommend staying updated via your respective airline, you can also check the airport’s dashboard for your flight status in a pinch.

A reading journal. Use it to write notes about the books you’re reading — like quotes that catch your eye, pages you want to come back to, and your overall rating. Pro tip: Use multicolor pens to make filling out your journal even more fun.

The Wrap

The Fiesta gears are already turning here at SATXtoday. I’ve been thinking about an article like “How to avoid the Fiesta chaos,” for those who don’t participate in the festivities. If there’s an aspect of Fiesta that you’d like to learn more about — or prefer to avoid it all together — let me know. I love hearing from y’all.
