All profits made on Barista Appreciation Day go back to the baristas at Folklores Coffee House. | Photo by Folklores Coffee House
Markets, art shows, volunteering opportunities, and drive thru light displays are just a few events taking place across San Antonio this weekend. However, we’re highlighting a local coffee shop and its initiative to give back to its employees — Barista Appreciation Day at Folklores Coffee House.
Barista Appreciation Day is an initiative that started during the COVID-19 pandemic to support Folklores’ baristas with added financial cushion. All profits made on Barista Day go back into the pockets of its employees — think: holiday bonus.
Whether you’re looking to try a new coffee shop or have been a long time regular, consider visiting Folklores Coffee House on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and support a local business + its workers.
Need a drink rec? Newsletter Editor Nicholas’ favorite coffee from Folklores is the Vato Rudo. It has two shots of espresso, caramel, cinnamon, and horchata.

Travel
Southwest fliers should get their ginger ale while they can. This week the airline began to end its cabin service earlier — at an altitude of 18,000 ft — to reduce injuries. It’s all good — there are plenty of food and drink options at San Antonio International before you board. (Fast Company)
