San Antonio is a bustling city, and when tourist season hits or when the Spurs have a big win, it can get even noisier than usual. Based on research conducted by Earth.FM, the Alamo City is ranked the No. 57 loudest city in the US — but that doesn’t mean you can’t find some peace and quiet.
The study also found places where locals can escape noise pollution. To do this, researchers assessed 3,000+ parks and nature spaces across 245 cities with populations over 250,000 and assigned them “Quiet Scores.” The methodology considered:
Reviews of the attractions that include words like “quiet,” “peaceful,” or “tranquil”
The average visitor rating at each location
The attraction’s popularity and how that impacts its peacefulness
So, where can you go in San Antonio to find tranquility? Here are the five best spots to get some peace and quiet.
Explore the flora and fauna of one of San Antonio’s quietest places: Friedrich Wilderness Park.

Friedrich Wilderness Park | Choose from one of 15 trails geared for all hiking levels. Plan ahead by bringing a water bottle and don’t forget the sunscreen.
Eisenhower Park | Hike up to the observation tower for a sprawling view of the South Texas Hill Country. The trails are a mix of paved, mulch, and gravel surfaces.
Hemisfair | Have a picnic at Civic Park near The Springs and then follow the paths to the Tower of the Americas to witness one of San Antonio’s most iconic landmarks.
San Antonio Botanical Garden | Stroll amongst the vibrant native fauna at this public garden. The tranquil space is open year-round.
San Antonio River | No, we’re not talking about the River Walk. Make your way to either the Museum Reach portion near the Pearl or the path down by the Blue Star Complex for quiet, scenic views.
