We may be a couple of weeks out from the end of classes, but it’s never too late to get a head start on summer plans for the kiddos.

From art school to computer sciences, check out these eight local summer camps for Alamo City kids.

The Summer Camps at Magik Theatre | The Magik Theatre, 420 S. Alamo St.

Kids can explore this year’s theme “Be Your Own Hero” through acting, dancing, singing, and during select weeks, technical theatre. Each week is $450.

8th Annual Mariachi Summer Camp | The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, 723 S. Brazos St.

Open to everyone, this arts center invites the public to dive deeper into mariachi performance traditions. Learn new skills and put it all together in an end-of-camp show. Overnight lodging is also available.

UTSA Summer Camps | UTSA, various locations

From engineering + monarch butterfly studying to learning about hydrology (the study of water), this local university has a plethora of options for kids, teens, and adults.

Summer Sewing Camp | Abby’s Attic Sewing & Crafting Studio, 2250 Thousand Oaks Dr. Suite 208

Campers five and up are invited to learn the art of sewing — with no experience needed. Here, the young ones will have materials provided as well as learning the ropes of a sewing machine.

San Antonio Zoo Summer Camps | San Antonio Zoo, 3903 N. Saint Mary’s St.

Spending the day with nature’s magnificent creatures sounds like a fun-filled day to us. Camp participants can learn about animals from Africa, different bird species, careers in zoology, and more.

UTSA, UIW, NISD, Saint Mary’s, Trinity University, SAISD, (to name a few) and a lot of other schools are celebrating graduations in the coming weeks. It’s best to have a meal plan — no, not the college one — and get those reservations in ahead of the festivities.

While some restaurants already have their reservation slots completely filled, here’s four restaurants that our team recommends.

Lisa’s Mexican Restaurant, 815 Bandera Rd.
Party size: 15+
With multiple rooms to choose from, you can bring the extended family to celebrate. For more pizazz, you can opt-in to have the room decorated with colored linens, candles, centerpieces, and other items (at an additional fee).

Biff Buzby’s Burgers, 12702 Toepperwein Rd. Suite #130
Party size: 35
Looking for more American fare? Take your party to “The Cockpit” at this burger joint for a private dining event.
