Community
  • Members of San Antonio’s Asian community are raising funds to create a community center near the Stone Oak neighborhood. Did you know Brackenridge Park used to host polo matches?

To celebrate the park’s 125th anniversary, the Brackenridge Park Conservancy will host a Homecoming Exhibition Polo Match on Sunday, May 19, from 2 to 7 p.m. This event is happening at the First Tee in Brackenridge Park (915 E. Mulberry Ave.), and will welcome special guests, memorabilia, legacy polo families, and a hat contest.

    San Antonio Polo history

In 1920, the newly-formed San Antonio Polo Club (now one of the nation’s oldest polo clubs) was granted permission by the City to prepare a grass polo field at no cost and featured competitions between civilian + military teams that filled the bleachers.

The 1930s through the 1940s marked the sport’s popularity in Brackenridge Park attracted large crowds, international fanfare, and top players. The high-level polo talent + matches at the park continued until the late 1980s.

    The Buy

Lume Acidified Body Wash, which is supposed to remove odor better than soap thanks to its key ingredient: mandelic acid. Choose from scents like clean tangerine or go unscented for sensitive skin types.

I don’t know about y’all, but I need that Le Creuset Dutch Oven from the Way Day sale for my new apartment. The kitchen is a lot bigger than my previous one, which means I can cook a lot more. My favorite dish to make? Shrimp and Arugula Risotto. Hits the spot every time.
