In our picnic era 🧺

A picnic is one of those experiences that everyone needs to do at least once... a year. They’re special, from making the sandwiches + snacks, to picking the perfect place. Picture this: City Editor Nicholas’ sister’s 10th birthday was fast approaching, and her main priority was to have a fabulous picnic, complete with Raising Canes and sparkling apple cider for some age-appropriate bubbly.

The Alamo City has countless beautiful parks for the perfect afternoon picnic. Grab your insulated wicker basket, a bottle of your favorite beverage, a couple of meats + cheeses, and check out these personal faves to find out which place won the top spot.

Bonnie Conner Park, 13300 Woller

If you find yourself on the North West side and need a break from all the 1604 construction, we recommend this park nestled in a green patch just off the highway. Fun Fact: This is where City Editor Nicholas and his sister had their birthday picnic. Afterward, check out Igo Library or take a walk along its trail for even better views.

Imagine having a full cheese spread on a plush blanket over the lawn at Landa Library.

This library sits on five acres of luscious garden space with playgrounds, pavilions, community gardens, and even a pollinator station. We think this is one of the most perfect places to have a picnic, not to mention looking like it was ripped out of a Architecture Digest magazine cover.

Legacy Park, 103 W. Houston St.

Take in the city as you dig into your meal with skyline views and a gorgeous sunset. Don’t want to sit on the ground? No problem, the park has bistro tables + chairs for your enjoyment.

When the temperature gets cooler, it’s time to have a picnic at Pearl Park.

Sunset along the green turf is as beautiful as the Pearl. A romantic part of the city and perfect for a picnic, so perfect that we believe it would be a wonderful date idea to pop that special question — what are we eating?
