If you’re like us, you probably made some fitness goals you’d like to achieve in 2024. Good news — you don’t have to get that gym membership just yet. Today, we want to share some ways you can get active without having to shell out extra cash for a gym or personal trainer.
From aerobics to Zumba — literally from A-Z — Fitness in the Park is a city-wide health + wellness initiative that offers free programs for the community across the Alamo City. There are a variety of free exercise and fitness classes for all ages + ability levels. The best part, most classes don’t even require registration.

136. That’s how many couples said “I do” at midnight at the Bexar County Courthouse on Valentine’s Day — breaking an all-time record. The courthouse plaza was filled with family + friends, and after the ceremony there was a block party held across the street. A celebration of love. (SA Report)

Live mas. Chef Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin was selected to join Taco Bell’s TBX chef collaboration program. The Best Quality Daughter restaurateur is in charge of revamping the chain’s Crunchwrap Supreme, which will be available at select Taco Bell locations later this year.

University Health’s newest facility, Retama Hospital, is set to start construction soon. The medical group is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 16300 Retama Pkwy. The ceremony is free to attend but registration is required.

The San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) created a new repository of books. The Corazón Collection features 115 of the most popular titles that SAPL offers in multiple formats and languages. The books are available in audio, e-reader, and print formats at all library branches.

Speaking of books. The San Antonio Book Festival announced its first author guest as part of its Get Lit conversation series. Michele Norris plans to discuss her new book on Monday, Feb. 26 at the Carver Community Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Registration is not required and is free for the public.
