We’ve all been there. You or your friends have kids and the babysitter falls through on the way to watch a Spurs game at your favorite bar — or your best friend is visiting from out of town and they’re bringing their kids along, so where do you go?
We’ve rounded up six kid-friendly bars in the Alamo City that people (and pets) of all ages can enjoy.
Just outside of San Antonio, this spot has a live music stage, dance floor, full drink + food menu, fenced dog park, covered patio, playground for the kids, and a basketball court.

After reopening at the end of 2022, this bar and brunch spot located in Alamo Heights is the perfect place for you and the kids to hang out. Enjoy a Brisket Bloody Mary or a Ranch Water on the patio as the kids go up and down the slide.
Opening this past spring, the Northside dog park + beer garden is also kid friendly. As the adults play in their volleyball league, the kids can enjoy the play area. Don’t forget to grab tacos from El Mitote.

Local development firm proposes hotel for Pig Stand property

Can you believe it’s been almost seven months since the Pig Stand closed? The diner was opened for 101 years, and closed its doors on Sunday, March 12. However, this is not the end for the property.
GrayStreet Partners purchased the site in February (valued at $3.7 million) from the owner, Mary Ann Hill. The developer has recently released its plan to turn the once beloved diner and landmark into a 35-ft hotel.
Here’s what we know about the current property:
Roughly 1.2 acres (51,762 sqft)
Located at 1508 Broadway
The plans for the Pig Stand were submitted this week and include a zoning change. If the change is approved, this will give the green light for the developer to move forward. The new zoning could also allow for a potential bar, nightclub, or brewery.
Stay tuned for updates about the future of this property.

This heated, cushioned folding chair with three heat settings. Because camping, lounging, and cheering from the sidelines doesn’t have to be uncomfortable.
Can y’all believe it’s finally under 90°? My heart is so happy. Now when I visit pumpkin patches, I won’t be sweating ... as much. Now if we can get this humidity out of here, it will be the fall weather we deserve in South Texas.
