Prepare for a total eclipse of the heart… or in this case, the sun.
For the first time in 146 years, next spring, Central Texas will lie in the path of a total solar eclipse. Next year’s planetary event — which takes place Monday, April 8, 2024 — will pass through North America, entering on the west coast of Mexico and exiting through Nova Scotia, Canada. This means Texans will be the first Americans to see the event.
The North Western half of San Antonio lies in the path of the eclipse, but the view will be better and longer in the Hill Country, with totality reaching nearby towns like Fredericksburg, Bandera, and Blanco around 1:30 p.m.
It’s said to be a stunning site that everyone will want to see, so planning ahead to secure your spot (and view) will be critical. Here are six ways to enjoy it the 2024 total solar eclipse in Central Texas.

National Cinema Day is almost here and theater chains across the Alamo City are offering exclusive discounts + promotions for the film celebration on Sunday, Aug. 27. This is the second annual celebration of cinema, now with over 30,000 movie theaters partaking in the $4 ticket deal.
We rounded up four film deals for your movie-going pleasure.
Santikos Entertainment | Multiple locations | The local theater chain is offering $4 movie tickets across all film formats from IMAX, to AVX. Plus, a bag of popcorn is included with your ticket.
Regal Cinemas | Multiple locations | The national cinema chain is partaking in the $4 ticket + popcorn deal for all movie formats like RPX, IMAX, and 4DX.
EVO Entertainment | Multiple locations | The theater group is offering $4 movies, unlimited popcorn + sodas, and a $10 food + drink voucher to be redeemed between Sept. 5-30
Woop woop, I can’t wait for National Cinema Day. I recently saw “Blue Beetle” and I have to say it was action-packed and heartwarming. I hadn’t seen the trailers (nor read the comics) so I didn’t know what to expect. If you need something to see this weekend, I recommend the superhero flick.
