So far this year, we’ve had 48 100° days in San Antonio and residents have been trying to find ways to cool off from these record breaking temperatures. With no end in sight from the scorching heat, we’ve rounded up seven places around the Alamo City to get all things shaved ice, raspas, snow cones, and more.
This traveling truck serves up gourmet Hawaiian-style shave ice. From Saturday, Aug. 19, through Sunday, Aug. 2, 50% of every cup purchased at the Pearl Farmers Market will go to support those affected by the fires in Maui.
This Mexican snack bar is serving up everything from warm snacks to shaved ice creations. Swing by daily for specialty treats including a Paleta Sandia or a Senor Mangonada.

Nine San Antonio pools extend summer hours
The city’s seasonal outdoor pool schedule is extended through September. | Photo by San Antonio Parks and Recreation
Speaking of the heat... the San Antonio Parks and Recreation department announced they are extending the seasonal pool schedule for nine of the city’s outdoor pools through Sunday, Sept. 24.
Here are the nine pools that will remain open on the weekends:
Cuellar, 502 SW 36th St. | Saturday-Sunday, 1-8 p.m.
Heritage, 1423 S. Ellison Dr. | Saturday-Sunday, 1-8 p.m.
Over the weekend, my best friends from high school, Erin and Mabel, tried to convince me to get matching tattoos. Full disclosure: I have a needle phobia and get light-headed at the sight of needles — my doctor gives me candy + water when they have to take my blood so I don’t pass out (yes, it’s that bad).
Apparently the tattoos were my idea — at least that’s what I’ve been told — but I was able to get out of it. However, I did show up for moral support and I brought Starbucks for the three of us.
