As we get closer to fall, we wanted to give our readers a star-crossed San Antonio park for their outdoor leisure.

Phil Hardberger Park, 8400 N.W. Military | Your personality is as big as the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge. The creative vibe you exude is matched by the park’s various sculptures, you want to be seen and that is all right with us.
This park is a little hidden but offers great trails.

♍️ Virgo (August 23-September 22)
O. P. Schnabel Park, 9606 Bandera Rd. | You may be a little bit judgy, but you’re also a great friend once people take the time to get to know you. In true Virgo fashion, it takes time to explore this hidden park and you’ll find its wonders with patience. In the end, you’ll be glad you made a visit.
♎️ Libra (September 23-October 22)
San Pedro Springs Park, 1315 San Pedro Ave. | We know you hate being alone, and that’s why you’ll always have company at this park. From the beautiful pool to the scenic walking trails, you can fulfill your afternoon picnic fantasy right here.
This park may be small but it has a great view of Frost Tower.

♏️ Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Piazza Italia Park, 500 Columbus | You may be comfortable in an awkward silence, which makes this lesser-known park perfect for you. It’s quiet, peaceful, and offers stunning views of Frost Tower.
Didn’t see your sign? Don’t worry. Winter signs (Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) are coming up next, in December. Make sure your friends are subscribed so they don’t miss their sign.

Hemisfair Park announced its Boomerang playscape will be closed due to a paint touchup of Stuart Allen’s “Reflect” shade sculpture. The Boomerang is set to reopen on Friday, September 8. No other play structures in the Yanaguana Garden will be impacted by the update.
Tech
Visit San Antonio is dipping into the Metaverse (a virtual reality world) with its new Visit 210 Plaza. On the website, users are able to create a custom avatar and discover the city’s history, learn about food + culture, and more.
Development
Santikos Entertainment has broken ground on a new shopping center near I-10 and 1604. The Roadrunner Creek Shopping Center will offer food + service options to the communities surrounding UTSA, Valero, and Security Service corporate offices, as well as provide amenities to users of the City’s trail system.

The Ukrainian-owned cheesecake bakery, Laika Cheesecakes & Espresso, has opened its sophomore location in Alamo Ranch at 6626 W. Loop 1604 N. Suite 215. You can find your next slice of deliciousness Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday - Saturday from 10 a.m.-11 p.m.
Coming Soon
A construction project was filed yesterday that includes new additions to The Quarry Golf Course. The nearly $1 million project will feature a new concession stand, bathrooms, a Pro’s Office, and a teaching green. Ground breaking is set to start in October with a completion in March 2024.
Festival
The Muertos Fest is accepting applications to join its Procession. Event officials are seeking community groups, dancers, puppets, mobile altars, and performance + school groups that are paying tribute to loved ones. Muertos Fest is free and returns to Hemisfair Park on Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29.
Real Estate
The Ranch Motel is teasing a comeback. The boutique motel + leisure club is announcing a reopening date soon. The 26-room motel had fallen into disrepair throughout the years and was purchased by developer Jayson Seidman in 2019. Keep your eyes peeled for room renovations on its Instagram.
Transit
Back-to-school season is here, and whether you’re a college freshman or senior, this announcement is for you. VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering students at select colleges + universities a free U-Pass membership. This gives students unlimited free bus rides each semester.

With the 2023-2024 school year right around the corner, teachers are stocking their classrooms with supplies to make sure students have the tools they need for success. Oftentimes, teachers use their personal finances to make it happen.
We asked our subscribers last week to send us teachers wishlists for the upcoming school year and here’s what they sent us:
My boyfriend and I decided to take a stroll through the Pearl’s Farmer’s Market on Saturday and we were not disappointed. From doughy + fluffy beignets from the Beignet Stand, to hand-made chocolates from the Swiss Chocolate Shoppe, the market had it all. I highly recommend you make this a priority weekend activity.
