It’s that time of year again. The City of San Antonio is working on its next fiscal year’s proposed budget — running from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024 — and wants your input. Come join City Manager Erik Walsh and staff from key city departments for a series of town hall meetings about the proposed budget.
During each session, budget highlights will be shared and residents will have the opportunity to ask questions. There will be a series of nine meetings across the city, each starting at 6:30 p.m. (except for Saturday, August 19 meeting.)
Interested in attending? Residents must register for the town halls in advance. Once public input is received, City Council will vote on the budget on Thursday, September 14.

In celebration of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” in theaters now, we wanted to get you involved. Last week, we asked our readers what local pizzeria they would recommend to the Teenage Turtles if they were to visit the Alamo City. Here’s what you all suggested:
Poppy’s Pizza, 7115 Blanco Rd. Suite 107 Swing by the family-owned Italian restaurant serving up authentic NY-style pizza and some of the best wings in the city. Active service members can get 10% off.
Lou’s Woodfire Pizza, 11930 US-90 Suite #101 Grab wood-fired pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and more. The pizza spot also offers cauliflower crust and and veggie options.
Rome’s Pizza, Multiple locations Gus Nassar introduced the city to this gourmet pizzeria in 1986 and has been serving up unique handcrafted pizzas ever since.

As I was writing the article about pizza, I realized that I had pepperoni pizza two nights in a row over the weekend — once at a friend’s house and the other after a photoshoot. That totally explains the heartburn I’ve been experiencing.
Pizza is definitely a comfort food for me, along with any type of pasta. My favorite type of pizza is Hawaiian — please don’t come for me and my pineapple. It does deserve to be a pizza topping.
