Fall is in full swing at Graff 7A Ranch. We’ve got all the deets to help you have the most a-maize-ing experience this year.

It’s corn 🌽

We can’t imagine a more beautiful thing. Think: a new maze layout with thousands of feet of passages to explore. This year, the ranch’s maze design celebrates D’Hanis High School baseball and softball teams on their recent state championship wins.

What’s new? ✨

Graff 7A Ranch is adding some new attractions to its lineup this year. Here are a few that have been listed online.
  • Gaga Ball Pit — Not like the “ra rah-ah-ah-ah” kind. Gaga Ball is a fast-paced, high-energy sport played in an octagonal pit.
  • Tether Ball — Channel your inner Napoleon Dynamite with this popular schoolyard game.
  • Zippity DooDah — Thrill seekers can look forward to new ziplines on the ranch grounds.
  • Zinnia Field — Pick + take pictures in a field of colorful flowers.
New U-pick activities, food, and campfire rentals are subject to additional fees. Check out what’s included with admission.

Coming up 🔜

Before jumping in the car with all your friends + family, here are a few things to keep in mind.
  • The ranch’s pumpkin patch opens on Sat., Oct. 1, lasting through the end of the month.
  • Upcoming special events and promotions like Heroes Weekends, Dia de Los Muertos, and the Antique Tractor Pull are listed online.
  • The Dance Barn’s live music lineup has been announced with plenty of local musicians on the roster.
Graff 7A Ranch is going cashless this year. Make sure to buy your tickets ahead of time to ensure availability before making the ~40-minute drive.

What Hispanic Heritage Month means to me — City Editor Ivan

City Editor Ivan here. I’ve been proud to call San Antonio home for the better half of my adult and professional life, but I will always hold my Mexican heritage close.

While I was born in Laredo, TX, most of my adolescence was spent traveling between the US and Mexico to visit family.

Much like how Mexican culture is extremely community-focused, I have always felt that San Antonio, being a Hispanic-majority city, has embraced its residents of all backgrounds. It’s no surprise that the Alamo City was ranked the No. 4 most friendly city in the US.

On September 16, my family celebrates Mexico’s Independence Day at community-wide festivities with mariachis, Mexican food, and El Grito, a tradition that recreates the moment in which Don Miguel Hidalgo gathered his followers in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato.

This year, I look forward to celebrating el 16 de septiembre with hundreds of new friends at Pearl’s Viva Dieciséis celebration.
THE WRAP
Today’s issue was written by Iván.

Editor’s pick: Siempre he creido que San Antonio es un lugar de oportunidad llena de gente amable y respetuosa. Thank you for being a reader and supporting Hispanic journalists.

Psst — also, if you’re every interested in visiting Mexico, consider traveling to one of San Antonio’s sister cities, Monterrey, Nuevo León.
