Would you believe Medina Valley ISD has had only one high school in its 60+ year history? The San Antonio-based school district has seen a 10.6% increase in enrollment from the previous school year — specifically the district’s only high school enrollment increased from 1,839 to 2,406.5 in two years. The increase in enrollment has prompted the need for a second high school.

Here’s what we know about the project:

  • Located near Loma Alta Middle School at the intersection of Potranco Rd. and 381 County Rd.
  • $323 million project
  • Capacity for 2,400 people
  • 700-seat multi-purpose auditorium
  • Physical education facility with seating for up to 990 spectators

How’s the project being funded? Glad you asked — The district is using funds voted on by the Medina Valley ISD School Board during the February 6, 2023 Special Called Board Meeting .

Stay tuned for more details about a namesake and an opening date.
