Hike, hike, baby — San Antonio parks are getting an upgrade.
Cuellar Park on the West Side is poised to receive $200,000 in renovations from the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.
The park, which sits on 27 acres and offers a swimming pool, fitness stations, and various ball fields and tennis courts, is due for a facelift. According to city documents, the department will be improving a trail at the beloved park and repairing a cracked basketball court, as well as adding a brand-new restroom facility. Construction is set to begin in December and be completed by early March.
It’s been a big year or two for park lovers in San Antonio: Multiple new parks opened last year — including Berkley V. & Vincent M. Dawson Park and Charis Park.
Still others underwent renovations in 2025:
- Civic Park at Hemisfair completed Phase II of its renovations in March, adding a fountain, an ampitheater-like area, and a promenade that connects from downtown to Southtown.
- Bring the kiddos to Highland Park on Rigsby Avenue, where new tire swings and new playground equipment await.
- The North Side’s Stone Oak Park swapped out an existing trail for a more accessible walking trail.
- Bellaire Park was updated earlier this year with new playground equipment, according to the Parks and Recreation Department’s Facebook page.
- Hoopers can enjoy the brand-new basketball court at Jupe Manor Park.
- And — if you’re like us and this heat wave is getting to you — be sure to visit Cathedral Rock Park, where new shade structures were added earlier this year.
And that’s just a few of this year’s upgrades to explore — but no matter where you live in the Alamo City, trust there’s a park to meet all your outdoor adventure needs.
