Founded in 2009 by Steve Ison, Rebecca Creek Distillery has become one of the largest artisan spirits producers in the region.
Here are a few things you need to know before making your way over to Bulverde.
History of Rebecca Creek
- While the distillery is now known for its sip-worthy whiskey, its history is a bit more enchanting. Its original spirit was actually a vodka named after Enchanted Rock.
- Its product lineup has now extended to Rebecca Creek Whiskey + Texas Ranger Whiskey.
- After nearly a decade of major success — expanding its sales to 17 states — it moved forward with a $7.5 million, 20,000-sqft distillery in 2018.
- The location now features a stage for live music, outdoor picnic-style seating, and The Saloon (a multi-purpose venue available for rent).
Pro tip: you can learn all about the distillation process and Rebecca Creek’s history on a seminar + sampling tour. The general tour — complete with 17 spirits to sample — is priced at $5 (with an optional $15 upgrade that includes two drinks).
Facts to impress your friends:
- The distillery was the first in the nation to name a bottle of whiskey after a woman.
- Rebecca Creek spirits are 10 times distilled, making for a smooth pour + low sugar content.
- Owner Steve Ison is a proud alum of Churchill High School.
- The distillery also runs a radio station for all country-loving San Antonians — you can even tune in using a smart device like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or Siri.
The site is also home to various food trucks. Among these is Veteran-owned and operated Big Fig. Pro tip: get the 3 Little Pigs which consists of three pork sliders with braised pork belly.
