The VFW Post 76 is the oldest Post in Texas.

As we’ve shared before, San Antonio is also known as Military City, USA, and there are a number of ways to honor our military this Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11. From discounts to events, we’re here to help you make the most of celebrating our heroes.

Meal deals

  • At Mambo Seafood locations vets can receive free empanadas on Veterans Day and a year-round 20% discount.
  • Whataburger is offering a free 16 oz hot or iced coffee to military personnel on Veterans Day, and is extending the offer to be available every day, all year long. Active-duty military or veterans need to show a valid ID or dress in uniform to receive the deal.
  • Veterans and active-duty military can get a free Legendary Burger during lunch at Hard Rock Cafe and share the 15% military discount with friends + family.

Wednesday, Nov. 6

  • CoSA Veterans Day Recognition | 1-1:30 p.m. | City Hall | Free | Join the City of San Antonio, Mayor Ron Nirenberg and City Manager Erik Walsh as they honor local veterans employed by the city.

Saturday, Nov. 9

  • USMVPA Veterans Day Parade | 12 p.m. | Along East Houston Street | Free | Make a tip downtown to see this parade honoring Military City, USA and its veterans.
  • SA Veterans Day | 12-8 p.m. | Hemisfair | Free | Honor our veterans with live entertainment, local organizations, laser light show, and Presentation of the Colors.

Sunday, Nov. 10

  • Grunt Style Freesome Social | 4-8 p.m. | VFW Post 76 | Free | Party at the oldest post in Texas with complimentary food + drink, giveaways, ceremonies, live music, and community.
