Run, Forest. Run. — The Rock ‘N’ Roll Running Series is finally back in San Antonio, and we can’t believe this one-of-a-kind music + fitness event is only one month away.

Dubbed Rock ‘N’ Roll Fiesta, runners can expect to immerse themselves in culture + community as they make their way past the most iconic landmarks throughout the city.

The atmosphere is similar to that of a block-party where participants and spectators are encouraged to motivate each other throughout the course with the most clever costumes + signs imaginable. Think: Go Random Stranger, Go!

Other fiesta-fun festivities you can expect 👟

🎶 Live music on stagesrest assured, Rock ‘N’ Roll Fiesta also spared no expense in the mariachi budget.

💧 Themed water stations pumping out bumping beats to push you past the finish line.

🍺 Drink a celebratory beer at the finish line after earning your finisher medal.

This year the event will be split in two days — Sat., Dec. 4 will feature the 5k and 10k distances while the half + full marathons will occur on Sun., Dec. 5. Sign up deadline is Nov. 28.

As we gear up for the biggest running fiesta of the year, we understand that training for any running event can be daunting — you’re definitely not alone. Editor Ivan is getting ready to run the half marathon for the second time and knows that it is no easy task.

Here are some training tips for a good race day:

  • Incorporate only one “long-run” a week when training to lend your muscles enough time to rest.
  • To avoid carrying a jacket on your run, wear a trash bag to keep you warm in the morning then toss it during your run.
  • Take it easy + have fun. Most runs should be an enjoyable experience. Put those headphones in and hit the pavement one step at a time.

While the official course map has not been released, we’ll be sure to update you on major road closures throughout race weekend. Good luckwe’ll catch you at the finish line.
