Let’s set the scene: Delicious food, great drinks, cozy vibes, and live music all in one space — that’s what this new burger joint is all about.
Located inside the remnants of Summer Camp (520 E. Grayson St.), emerges San Antonio’s newest burger restaurant called Smash’d. The brainchild of owners Rick Greenfield, Erin Tireman, and Nathan + Veronica Levins, the team partnered with Chef Brandon Peterson to recreate his smashed burger from Summer Camp and expand it into a full restaurant concept.
Menu breakdown
Not familiar with a smashed burger? They are made by literally smashing ground beef patties onto the grill with a spatula, and here it doesn’t just stop at hamburgers.
Guests can enjoy a diverse menu featuring smashed hamburgers, chicken burgers, and California-style burritos. All of the menu items are made with locally sourced ingredients including Texas Waygu and buns from Chicago Bagel & Deli.
“If you’ve never had a smashed burger, the Signature Smash’d is the way to go,” says co-owner Erin Tireman.
Smash’d also offers a late night happy hour from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday + Saturday nights featuring $10 signature cocktails, $5 Topo Chico Seltzers, and $30 beer buckets, just to name a few.
Coming soon
In addition to its weekly events like trivia and live music, new restaurant amenities are being added to the patio area. First up, an outdoor bar. Starting this summer, patrons can order their favorite beverages outside from a container-styled bar.
A 15-tap pour-your-own beer station is also in the works, allowing guests to grab a Smash’d card they can scan and pour their own beer. Fun fact: Smash’d is using the self-pouring equipment from a bar called The Dooryard that closed last year.
