San Antonio is heating up and nothing screams summer like hitting the town for a bit of nighttime cinema under the stars, stretched out on a freshly cut lawn, or kicking back in the bed of a truck.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic date night activity — like a scene out of your favorite rom-com — or just want to hang out with friends, we’ve got you covered with four free summer outdoor movie series across the 210 that will have you feeling like the star in your own motion picture.
Movies in the Park
Float like a Cadillac to the Rim Commons Park for its film series taking place every Wednesday in May. Catch films like “Mama Mia,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Pro tip: No outside food + drink is allowed but Southerleigh Haute South will have bites and sips available for purchase.
Friday Night Flicks
Make memories that will last For-e-Ver and catch a movie every Friday this summer courtesy of Bexar County. Starting Friday, May 24 through Friday, July 26, you can grab the popcorn and catch flicks like “Encanto,” “UP,” and “The Sandlot.” Films start at dusk.
Be sure to double-check the locations for each showing.
Outdoor Family Film Series
Take yourself to better place and bring your own blanket or lawn chair to watch free films this season at Mission Marquee Plaza (3100 Roosevelt Ave.) On site food trucks will be available for extra purchases. Movies start at 8:30p.m.
Movies by Moonlight
Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads. Visit Civic Park every Tuesday in June for films such as “Back to the Future,” Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and “Clueless.”
Slab Cinema will be playing movies all summer long, see the full list of screenings.
