Attention runners: We’ve rounded up some of the top races in our area for runners, walkers, joggers to lace up for this spring — from a 5K along two rivers to courses fit for all ages.

Kinderschuhe 5K (Sat., March 5)

Starting line: Gruene Hall, 1281 Gruene Rd., New Braunfels
Registration fee: $35
Start time: Registration and packet pickup at 7:30 a.m.; 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:30 a.m.; Kids Run starts at 9:30 a.m.

The annual Kinderschuhe 5K Run and Walk benefits Communities In Schools by providing funds to buy shoes for children in need. Register for the race.

The Alamo 13.1 and 26.1 (Sun., March 6)

Starting line: HemisFair Park, 434 S. Alamo St., San Antonio
Registration fee: $158.36 for the 26.2 race + $138.36 for the 13.6 race through March 1
Start time: 6:45 a.m.

Help celebrate San Antonio’s 304th anniversary by running a historic course that winds through the best parts of San Antonio, showcasing the spots that reflect the city’s deep cultural roots. Register for the race.

St. Paddy’s Day 5K (Sat., March 19)

Starting line: Rockin R River Rides, 1405 Gruene Rd., New Braunfels
Registration fee: $30 through March 6; $35 from March 7-18; $45 on race day
Start time: Registration and packet pickup at 6:45 a.m.; 1K Leprechaun Run starts (kids 12 and under) at 7:45 a.m.; 5K starts at 8 a.m.

Don your green attire and celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with a run in Gruene. The easy out and back route runs through beautiful streets where participants might even see a deer or two. Bonus: Guadalupe Brewing Company is sponsoring the beer at the end of the race. Register for the race.

Dash to the VTO (Sat., March 26)

Starting line: TPC San Antonio, 23808 Resort Pkwy., San Antonio
Registration fee: $35 through March 4; $45 from March 5-25; $50 on race day
Start time: 9 a.m.

Lace up your sneakers and get an exclusive look at TPC San Antonio’s The Oaks course — just days before the PGA Tour pros compete at the Valero Texas Open. Pro tip: Registration will be limited to 700 participants, so if you want to race, consider registering early.

Roar and Run Lion’s 5K (Sat., April 2)

Starting line: Christ Our King Anglican Church, 115 Kings Way, New Braunfels
Registration fee: $25 through midnight March 19; $35 from March 20 until midnight on April 1; $40 on race day
Start time: 8 a.m.

Proceeds from the race will help support community initiatives led by the New Braunfels Evening Lions Club. Register for the race.

Run With Purpose (Sat., April 30)

Starting line: New Braunfels Christian Academy, 220 FM 1863, New Braunfels
Registration fee: $15 (Kids K); $25 through April 2; $35 from April 3-22; $40 from April 23-29; $45 on race day
Start time: 7:30 a.m. late registration and packet pickup; race starts at 8:30 a.m.

Proceeds from the 11th Annual 5K walk/run and Kids K will benefit the school. Register here.

23rd Annual Run For The Hills (Sat., May 7)

Starting line: Bulverde Spring Branch Activity Center, 30280 Cougar Blvd., Bulverde
Registration fee: 5K $25 through May 5; 10K $35 through May 5
Start time: 1 mile walk/run starts at 8 a.m.; 5K/10K starts at 8:30 a.m.

Dos Rios 5K Splash and Dash (Sat., June 18)

Starting line: Cypress Bend Park, 503 Peace Ave., New Braunfels
Registration fee: $25 through June 6; $30 from June 7-17; $40 on race day
Start time: Packet pick up from 6:45-7:45 a.m.; Kids run starts at 7:55 a.m.; 5K starts at 8 a.m.

Runners have two different ways to experience the race: Either just run on the roads or, for an additional challenge, racers can run the roads and tube through the chute when they reach Prince Solms Park. (Yes, you will be finishing the race with wet shoes unless you take them off prior to the chute.) Register for the race.

Stars and Stripes (Sat., July 23)

Starting line: Stars and Stripes Drive-In Theatre, 1178 Kroesche Ln., New Braunfels
Registration fee: Through May 31: 5K Run ($30), 5K Walk ($30), 10K ($35), Half Marathon ($80), Kids K ($15); from June 1-July 7: 5K Run ($35), 5K Walk ($35), 10K ($40), Half ($85), Kids K ($15)
Start time: Half Marathon starts at 6:30 a.m.; 10K starts at 7 a.m.; 5K starts at 7:15 a.m.

The course for this half marathon is scenic, following along country roads‚ which makes it one of the fastest + flattest races you’ll find. Register here.*
