CPS Energy rate hike approved

The new rate increase will take effect March 1

San Antonio City Council approved a 3.85% rate increase for CPS Energy customers. The Texas-based energy company estimates the average bill will increase by $5.10/month (based on the average bill of $150/month).

Here’s a breakdown of the new increase:

  • Approximately $3.84 will be added to customers’ electric + gas bill.
  • There will be a fee of $1.26 per month added in the fuel adjustment portion of a customer’s bill due to fuel costs incurred during the winter storm.
  • The newly added $1.26 fee will be implemented for the next 25 years.
