San Antonio Metro Health received 1,000 doses of the monkeypox vaccine, enough to fully vaccinate 500 people. Currently, 13 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in Bexar County. 💉
As the new school year begins, the San Antonio Public Library System (SAPL) wants to remind students + parents about the free educational resources available online and in-person. SAPL offers homework + FASFA assistance, and free indoor and outdoor wifi at all library locations. 🎒
The new Walker Ranch Senior Center in Council District 9 is now open. The 26,360 sqft center, is situated on a six-acre lot adjacent to the Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park and features a main dining hall, exercise rooms, a computer lab, and an activity space for senior-specific programming. 🏫
New business, Double Standard, is now open at 114 E. Houston St. The local bar serves up classic cocktails + a selection of draft beers, and a seafood menu that features east coast oysters. Pro tip: check out the happy hour menu for some sweet deals — they offer $1 east coast oysters, $2 draft beers, and $3 well drinks. 🦪
The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) received 600+ responses in regard to its “Institute of Texan Cultures Centennial 2068: Community Stakeholder Visioning” process. H-E-B Pharmacy ranked No. 1 in customer satisfaction by J.D. Power for the second year in a row. The study was based on responses from 12,142 pharmacy customers and seven key performance indicators that included digital offerings, time + savings, and overall service. 💊
San Antonio Botanical Garden announced that dogs will be allowed into the 38-acre garden through Wed., Aug. 31 from 7-11 a.m. This is part of its Dog Daze of August initiative and will cost $5 per leashed pup. 🐶
Blue Hole in Wimberley has closed due to unsafe swimming conditions. The announcement cited that the suspension will go through Mon., Aug. 15. Those who have made a swimming reservation in advance will get a 100% refund. Other recreational amenities like hiking, biking, and the playground area around the popular swimming hole will remain open. 💧
