Happy first Monday of the New Year, San Antonio.
If you’re like us, you probably made some fitness goals for yourself you’d like to achieve in 2022. Good news — you don’t have to get that gym membership just yet.
Today, we want to share some ways you can get active without having to be amongst those busy January fitness crowds (and saving money while you’re at it).
From aerobics to zen yoga — literally from A-Z — Fitness in the Park is a city-wide health + wellness initiative that offers free programs for the community all across the Alamo City. There are a variety of free exercise and fitness classes for all ages + levels of ability. The best part: most classes don’t even require registration.
There is also no limit to how many classes you’d like to join, so here are three to get you started:
FIP Cardio Fit | Thurs., Jan. 6 | 10 a.m. | Parman Library, 20735 Wilderness Oak | Free, no registration needed | Ages 18+ | Get that blood pumping with rhythmic aerobic exercises and strength training interval based routines. 👟
Circuit Shooting Workout | Sat., Jan. 8 | 3 p.m. | Copernicus, Nicholas Community Center 5003 Lord Rd. | Free, registration needed | Ages 6-19 | Shoot some hoops and focus on technique + mechanics, free throwing, and more. 🏀
FIP Aqua Board HIIT at the San Antonio Natatorium | Sat., Jan. 8 | 11:30 a.m. | San Antonio Natatorium, 1430 W. Cesar Chavez | Free, no registration needed | Ages 18+ | Break a sweat with this high intensity interval training class in water using specialized floating Aqua Fit boards. 💧
If you can’t make it to these classes you can check out the calendar for more available dates. Want to exercise from the comfort of your own home? Check out SA park’s Instagram page for last year’s #HomeBodies Challenges.
