The San Antonio Public Library’s (SAPL) Texana Resource Center is getting a makeover y’all starting this week. The project is funded by 2017 and 2022 San Antonio Bond Programs as well as private, charitable funding raised from SAPL.

The Texana Resource Center is home to SAPL’s historical archives and genealogy collections that provides family history research assistance to the community.

Updates will occur to the 21,000-sqft space on the 6th floor of Central Library and will cost $2 million. Here’s what we can expect:

  • New flexible classroom
  • New listening station
  • New gallery space
  • Improvements to the Texana vault (houses the library’s special collection)
  • Improvements to the Family History Area including study areas
  • Functional improvements to group consultation and individual research spaces
