In 1998, Palo Alto College freshman and runner Samantha Tapia had a medical emergency during a cross-country meet and passed away days later. Her legacy continues to inspire the PAC community today.

Each year, Palo Alto College hosts The Paloween Hustle 5K/10K in Honor of Samantha Tapia to celebrate her memory and raise funds for the Samantha Tapia Endowment, which supports student-athlete scholarships.

This year’s event is Saturday, Oct. 18, 8-11 a.m. on the PAC campus. Participants can look forward to:

  • A commemorative 5K or 10K run/walk
  • A scenic campus route
  • An event t-shirt and medal
  • Awards for top finishers in each category

Registration is $30 for the 5K and $40 for the 10K. Parking is available in all student lots; streets will be closed during the race for safety.

Pro tip: Stick around after the race for the free Palomino Pumpkin Patch.

Can’t attend? San Antonians can still support the Samantha Tapia Endowment through donations.
