ICYMI, it’s National Public Health Week (NPHW). Each April, the American Public Health Association brings together communities across the country to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation’s health.

So, what does that mean for San Antonians? We’re glad you asked. Metro Health is celebrating NPHW by showcasing the achievements from the SA Forward Plan, the community blueprint that addresses issues learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and launched in April 2022.

This year’s NPHW theme is Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We are All Public Health. Metro Health will focus its efforts on the following areas:

  • Access to Care
  • Data and Technology Infrastructure
  • Food Insecurity and Nutrition
  • Health Equity and Social Justice
  • Mental Health and Community Resilience
  • Violence Prevention

Metro Health is hosting a Public Health Fest on Thursday, April 4. Swing by Mission County Park from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a pop-up vaccination clinic and to learn more about local resources. Learn more.
