Chalk it Up returns to San Antonio, TX

The 19th annual free chalk art festival will take place on Houston Street tomorrow, Oct. 8.

A crowd gathers around colorful chalk murals on the pavement, with vendor tents set up around the edges.

Watch where you step — there’s probably some cool art there.

Remember doodling with sidewalk chalk? Well, some people never stopped.

20 featured artists + 52 school and community groups will show us how it’s done tomorrow, Sat., Oct. 8, at the 19th Annual Chalk It Up festival. From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Houston St. (from Flores to Presa), see live mural creations and help support your local arts organizations. This year’s theme: the San Antonio River.

Plus, it’s all free. We can’t imagine a better midday stroll.
