LGBTQ+ Pride Month is here, and is celebrated every June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. San Antonio’s first Pride demonstration was seven years later in 1976, with only 35 participants.
Now, the city’s celebrations have grown — with a host of Pride events throughout June. Here are six events that will keep you rocking rainbows all month long.
Bud Light Pride River Parade | Saturday, June 1 | Various locations + times | Free | Celebrate all day long along the San Antonio Riverwalk with live music, DJs, dancers, and drag queens.
Drag Me to the Hall | Saturday, June 1 | 9 p.m. | Stable Hall, 307 Pearl Pkwy. | $49 | The party doesn’t stop after the Museum Reach parade. Float down to this music venue and grab your tickets for a night of musical performances by nationally-recognized drag queens like Trinity K. Bonet.
Pride Night & Mercadito | Friday, June 7 | 7 p.m.-Midnight | Jaime’s Place, 1514 W. Commerce St. | Free | Dance the night away as you listen to Bidi Bidi Banda with your host, Kristi Waters.
Pride Hike | Saturday, June 15 | 9-11 a.m. | Phil Hardberger Park, 13203 Blanco Rd. | Free | Lace up those hiking shoes for a two-mile walk led by Park Education Coordinator Mr. David, as you learn about nature’s diversity.
OUT at the Tobin Pride Brunch | Sunday, June 23 | 10:30 a.m. | Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Cir. | Grab a mimosa and see performances by Ra’Ja O’Hara from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Mehgan Iman Dlux, and Reign La Rue.
Pride Bigger Than Texas Festival | Saturday, June 29 | 11 a.m.-7 p.m. | Crockett Park, 1300 N. Main Ave. | $12 | Come as you are for a Pride parade, weddings, a health fair, entertainment, and food.
