Earlier this week, San Antonio area school districts announced the official schedule for start dates. With most starting in early August, we thought it would be the perfect time to share back-to-school events + supply drives happening around the Alamo City.
Here are 10 events you can pencil into your calendar:
Back to School with KLRN! | Sat., July 23 | 10 a.m.-1 p.m. | St. Mary’s University | Free, RSVP | There will be free backpacks, books, school supplies, family-friendly activities, esports demonstrations, and a special visit by PBS KIDS character Peg + Cat.
Pack Your Back(Pack) Mental Health Fair | Tues., July 26 | 9 a.m.-12 p.m. | Free | 8550 Huebner Rd. | Free | The San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital will be providing free school supplies + health resources for the entire family.
Back to School Birthday Bash | Wed., July 27 | 4-7 p.m. | 2737 Bobcat Ln. | Free | Celebrate South San ISD’s 100th anniversary with free school supplies, food bank donations, immunizations + registration stations.
Back 2 School Kids Haircuts | Fri., July 29 | 10 a.m.-1 p.m. | UCAS University of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences, 910 SE Military Dr. | Free | Kids can get a free haircut + there will be back-to-school prizes, and family-friendly activities.
District 3 Back to School Event | Sat., July 30 | 9 a.m.-1 p.m. | 1956 S. WW Rd. | Free | Families are invited to enjoy free haircuts, bike giveaways, back-to-school vaccines, community resources + educational sessions.
Backpack Event | Wed., Aug. 3 | 8 a.m.-2 p.m. | PicaPica Plaza, 910 SE Military Dr. | Free | Receive a free backpack with some school supplies + enjoy free haircuts, and health resources, and more.
Back to School Bash | Sat., Aug. 6 | 9-11:30 a.m. | 906 March Ave. | Free | Harlandale ISD is hosting free backpacks for kids + haircuts, immunizations, and school registration.
Garden Ridge Market Days | Sat., Aug. 13 | 9 a.m. | 19185 FM 2252 | Free | Enjoy 150+ craft, food, and farm vendors + support four local schools and donate supplies — there will also be free vision screening and family-friendly activities.
Stuff the Bus | Now-Mon., Aug. 15 | Virtual + H-E-B Super Regional Warehouse | Donations needed | Help Communities In Schools reach its goal to provide supplies to 160 schools across 12 districts.
Back to School Supply Drive | Sat., Aug. 13 | 2 p.m. | Gunn Chevrolet, 16550 Interstate 35 N., Selma | Free | The first 150 school-aged children will get a free backpack + school supplies.
